Mandy Whiteside, associate superintendent of engagement and visitor experience for the Three Rivers Park District, brought nature to the Minnesota State Capitol on Tuesday, April 28, as a way of showcasing the district's work. The event included booths with information from different departments and animals from district-area farms to give visitors a chance to learn more about the parks in a hands-on way.

The district manages approximately 27,000 acres of parkland and 175 miles of trails throughout suburban Hennepin County. Whiteside said Three Rivers Park District is working to determine how to effectively balance public access to the outdoors with the need to conserve natural environments.
