Report for Minnesota summer Internships place students at news organizations around Greater Minnesota where they live and work full-time for a 10-week period with a stipend to support housing and other costs. The interns are also matched with mentors at the news organizations to help them integrate into the community.

Placements have included the West Central Tribune, Brainerd Dispatch, Mankato Free Press, Swift County Monitor, Duluth News Tribune and KAXE public radio.

Where are they now?

• Mitchell Levensque, Swift County Monitor, 2022.
• Olivia Stevens, Mankato Free Press, 2022: Olivia went on to intern at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, MPR News, the (Salem, Ore.) Statesman Journal, and the Chicago Tribune. She is now a full-time reporter for the Daily Southtown in Chicago.
• Hannah Ward, Brainerd Dispatch, 2023: Hannah went on to intern at the Star Tribune, the Twin Cities Business Journal. Her graduation from Hubbard is spring 2025.
• Jerome Wirtz, 2023, Mankato Free Press: Jerome went on to intern at the St. Paul Pioneer Press before graduation in spring 2024. He now works for the (Pierre, S.D.) Capital Journal.
• Calli Hadler, 2024, Mankato Free Press: Calli went on to intern at MPR News and Twin Cities Public Television.
• CJ Julstrom, 2024, Brainerd Dispatch: CJ is still pursuing a journalism degree.
• Leo Pomerenke: West Central Tribune: Leo went on to intern at the Star Tribune before his graduation in fall 2024. He now works at the Bemidji Pioneer.
